Official assignments for two kids who will be able to take advantage of some extra playing time before the start of next season with the expectation that they’ll be able to return for the season. Haven’t seen this for Veleno just yet but it’s still on the table.

Fitzhugh became a hockey fan from listening to Ken Kal call Detroit Red Wings games. He became hooked on becoming a hockey broadcaster after calling games while a student at Bowling Green State University.

“My entire life growing up, I always knew I that I wanted to work in sports. Up until I was probably 17-18 years old, I was going to be Stuart Scott, I wanted to be on ESPN,” he said.

I have never heard Everett Fitzhugh call a hockey game, but if he learned from listening to Ken Kal, I’m confident in his ability to do a great job. I’m very much looking forward to hearing how he performs for the Kraken.
