Little Caesars Arena Surprisingly Subdued For Red Wings’ Season Opener « CBS Detroit
Will Burchfield summarizes thusly: It was a busy place, but it wasn’t especially alive.
This is going to be a constant topic all season and I’ll admit that I kind of don’t care about it as much as the constant din I’m expecting about it all year (after all, my fandom isn’t reflected in the atmosphere of the LCA or the empty seats in sections of the arena where I never sit anyway). But it does cover most of the angles as to the reasons pretty well. Only thing missing from the idea is the effects of corporate seating and the fact that pro teams essentially count on the secondary market to absorb a portion of attendance risk and the secondary market tends to be a little slower to react when it comes to filling those seats late.
