Griffins fall to Monsters in OT
It was a loss for the Griffins last night, but at least they got a point, unlike their NHL counterpart. Goals from prospects Cross Hanas and Elmer Soderblom, and goaltender Sebastian Cossa extends his point streak with a record of 7-0-5 in his last 12 starts.

Gettinger’s time with the Grand Rapids Griffins will go on for another season it appears. He has 25 points in 51 games in GR. Don’t expect he’ll see actual ice time in Detroit, but with a six-foot-six frame, the Wings might get desperate for some “ooomf.”

Atlanta group makes push for NHL team
The Alpharetta Sports & Entertainment Group, led by former NHLer Anson Carter, wants a third go at an NHL team in Atlanta. Here’s a statement from NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly:
“The League appreciates Anson’s passion for bringing NHL hockey back to the Atlanta area, and he has certainly kept the subject on our radar screen for several years running,” Daly said. “While, as we have made clear, we have no expansion oriented process in place currently, it’s always good to know there is bona fide interest.”
Rempe sidelined after nasty hit
This guy has been the source of much discourse in the hockey world. It was a nasty hit that will only make him a target for other teams. We know the guy loves to fight, so I guess you can expect more of that when he returns from his suspension.
