Should Detroit promote Simon Edvinsson or make a move for a defenseman?
Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, Solstice, Diwali, Yule, David Perron Freedom Day, Pizza Friday, or nothing at all this time of year… I think we’re all wishing for an improved defensive performance from the Wings. I personally think that needs to come in the form of a Simon Edvinsson call-up. I don’t particularly care how management makes it happen, the D-corps needs a shake-up and some internal competition for quality ice time.

The man just can’t be stopped. Jaromir Jagr made his season debut on Wednesday for his hometown team, the Kladno Knights of the Czech Extraliga, marking his 36th campaign as a professional hockey player. The NHL legend didn’t look too worse for wear, either, playing 13:44 and notching an assist in a 4-3 loss to league-leading Pardubice. Jagr will play until body parts fall off of him, and I’m honestly not sure that will stop him permanently. In the year 3000, he will surely headline the Head-In-Jar Hockey League of New New York.
