Czarnik heading back to the Griffins means there’s an open roster slot. Couple that with the Jake Walman injury (still no update there) from the Leafs game and this seems like a prime opportunity to call up one (or maybe two) defensemen from Grand Rapids. Here’s hoping we see Simon Edvinsson in a Winged Wheel real soon…

Did the Sabres put too much on Devon Levi too soon?

The Sabres want to win now but Devon Levi is still just beginning his development as an NHL goalie.

On one hand, yes they did. Asking a kid to step in and be a full-time tendy for an organization mired in rebuild-mode for over a decade (aka, statistically bad and getting shelled) is to flirt with disaster. On the other hand, Levi showed signs of success despite the roster in front of him (Tage Thompson not withstanding). With the team currently 6th in the Atlantic, they probably have the freedom to try some things as long as the roster and fans will allow it. It’ll be interesting to see how this develops.
