Look, in all seriousness, the DFO team does acknowledge that they aren’t REALLY on the hot seat, it’s just that nobody is at the moment so they get the focus because there need to be results this season. And they aren’t wrong – we do need to see results. But the most educated fans – like the wonderful community here at WIIM – all understand the constraints and raw deals Yzerman has been dealing with and are granting him and the rest of the Red Wings staff appropriate latitude.

Not infinite latitude… but appropriate latitude.

Barry Melrose, an Emmy Award-winning hockey analyst for ESPN for nearly 30 years, is retiring after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

Whatever you think of Barry Melrose, this is a real shit card to pull from life’s deck. I hope for the best for him in this difficult time. May a cure come quickly for all those suffering from Parkinson’s disease.
