Red Wings Rumblings
Good news, bad news this morning.. The good news is that the Washington Capitals lost last night, meaning the Wings are now tied with them at 82 points a piece. The bad news is that the New York Islanders won, and are within a point of Detroit and Washington.
Khan penned an article that hones in on David Perron’s goal against Tampa. Huge goal, obviously — no doubt about that, but let’s not forget that Perron has four points in his last 10 games. I imagine he’s going to be re-signed in the offseason if he wants to stay.. So all I can say is that I hope his offense is at a turning point. Perhaps this is a little harsh on my part, but… Sorry not sorry
This is just anecdotal for me, but with all the complaints I do have about certain players, I need to remind myself where we’re at right now. The Wings are playing meaningful hockey in April — which has been a novel concept for this franchise for some time now. Even if the team makes it to the first round and gets their asses whooped, it’s a step in the right direction.
NHL News
Connor McDavid unsurprisingly was named the star of the month for March. in 15 games, McDavid scored 31 points (7-24–31). Nathan MacKinnon, who was star number two, scored 27 points (11-16–27) in 13 games. McDavid needs just three more helpers to hit the 100-mark for assists on the season. If you were to take away his 29 goals scored, McDavid would still be in the top-10 for scoring in the NHL. Pretty wild
