Thriving in Grand Rapids, Simon Edvinsson patiently awaits next NHL chance

The Red Wings’ top prospect has been impressive in Grand Rapids while waiting for his next chance in Detroit.

Between the Kane signing and two game days in a row, this got a little buried but deserves some light. Max always does great stuff, so give this a read if you can. Hopefully we’ll see Edvinsson up for good sooner rather than later.

Defenseman has 6 points in 21 games, can become unrestricted free agent after season

After being told he was “exactly what we need in Toronto”, Zadorov is out of Calgary and on his way to… NOT Toronto. Part of me feels like this is Patrik Allvin and Craig Conroy just staring daggers eastward. The other part of me thinks the first part of me is right.

In the larger scheme of things, I also think this shows that Calgary is open for business. The return for Zadorov was a couple of middling picks – no players or prospects to back-fill his spot. With the team already showing playoff potential, and if Kane comes in as a productive player (more about Kane today at 12:00), I wonder if Stevie makes a play of Hanifin or Lindholm…
