Prospect Spotlight: Berggren returns from injury with historic SHL season – NHL

“Detroit was my favorite team growing up,” Berggren said after he was drafted. “They had all the Swedes on the roster. I’m excited.”

This summer, Berggren will enjoy his first offseason since 2019 without needing to rehab an injury. The winger, who turns 21 on July 16, will use this offseason to continue developing his game with an emphasis on skating and two-way hockey with the hopes of soon realizing his dreams and making his NHL debut with the Red Wings

I’m pulling for him. The kid’s got a good head about him.

2021 NHL Draft: Top 10 forwards – NHL

2. Mason McTavish, C, Peterborough (OHL)

NHL Central Scouting ranking: No. 2 (North American skaters)

The 18-year-old, a powerful skater with balance and solid puck-protection skills, scored 11 points (nine goals, two assists) in 13 games on loan with EHC Olten in the Swiss League, the second-highest professional league in Switzerland. He also filled in as captain for Canada at the U-18s when Shane Wright (2022 draft eligible) missed two games because of injury.

I’m going to let the people who care way more about prognosticating on this stuff tell me whether I’ll be happy or not after we pick whomever we get.
