Red Wings Riley Sheahan Donating to Michigan Humane Society
Riley Sheahan is giving back to the Michigan Community.
We all love Riley Sheahan, right? He is a large part of the Red Wings' youth movement that we have seen in the last year. Before last season, he was a player that I didn't see much room for on the team. He had seen a few call-ups, and didn't really produce much in his time here. When the injury plague struck the team, Riley came up and had himself a fantastic season putting up 24 points in 42 games, and helping the organization to their 23rd consecutive postseason appearance.
So far this season, Riley Sheahan has continued his excellence with 23 points in 49 games, proving that he flew under the radar as a prospect for many years. This season is different for Riley. When he's not on the ice, he's giving back to the community in a very special way. For all you animal lovers out there (you know how I am.. If you follow me on Twitter, you are well aware of my dog, Butters the Boston Terrier), Riley Sheahan will be donating $100 for every goal and assist he scores this season to the Michigan Humane Society.
What a guy. Nothing warms my heart like something like this. If you tune into the Detroit Red Wings Community Instagram account, you will find a handful of awesome pictures that shows Riley holding dogs with a big ol' grin on his face.
Center Riley Sheahan will visit the Michigan Humane Society's Detroit location each month to feature one of their adoptable pets on our Facebook page through his charity program Riley's Rescues. In addition, Riley will donate $100 for every goal and assist he scores this season. Today, Riley would like to feature terrier cross mix Ben. If you would like to adopt this 10-year-old male dog, please go to the Detroit Center for Animal Care between 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Mon-Sat). The lucky person who adopts Ben will receive a Red Wings goody bag with a photo autographed by Riley in the mail as a thank you for adopting a rescue pet. #IMTH
