Game 1 Highlights & Postgame Comments: Mike Babcock, Niklas Kronwall, Drew Miller

Just four minutes of highlights in this 60-minute game, but you can really see how much both teams had to battle to get to the middle of the ice in the offensive zone with the puck. Both sides really held their men to the outside well and made this a tough board-battling game.

Here’s Mike Babcock’s postgame presser where he talks about being the underdog and which guys he thought did a good job battling in this one.

Niklas Kronwall sounded very captainly in his postgame comments, which is a good thing coming from the guy who is pretty much the de facto captain for the Wings while Henrik Zetterberg remains out.

It’s also interesting that Kronwall also specifically points out Abdelkader’s contribution to the game. I thought Abby struggled late in the season, but he was definitely good in his defined role last night.

Finally, shot-block hero Drew Miller gives his sagacious take. He’s respectful of the Bruins and talks mostly about how the team knows they have to keep working just as hard to continue to find success. Miller played 1:39 of the two penalty kill minutes for the Wings in this game and had a big shot block late in the game to clear the zone while the Bruins had Rask pulled trying to tie it.

For more video, including Tatar’s postgame comments, you can find it at the Red Wings team site.

Game 2 is tomorrow afternoon at 3pm.
