The Wings host one of the NHL’s worst teams in the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight at Little Caesars Arena. Despite the poor overall record, Columbus is 4-4-1 this month which is, well, much better than Detroit’s record for February.
Detroit’s lineup will look a little different tonight after Simon Edvinsson was recalled from Grand Rapids. Jake Walman is out for tonight’s game with a lower-body injury, and Michael Rasmussen will be a game-time decision due to an illness. That means we’ll likely see Justin Holl back in the lineup, in addition to Edvinsson. What will the D pairings look like? No idea. The Athletic’s Max Bultman mentioned on Twitter that Edvinsson mostly played with Jeff Petry in preseason. So, perhaps Chiarot will slide up next to Seider and Edvinsson will take duty on the second pair. Head coach Derek Lalonde told the press this morning that final D pairings will be determined after warmups.
On the Dylan Larkin front, the captain is still skating and practicing with the team but his return to the lineup will not happen tonight. Lalonde says he’s not sure if Larkin will be ready in time for Thursday’s game against the Islanders.
