Would you look at that, another big game between two Wild Card hopefuls tonight at Little Caesars Arena. The Red Wings are coming off a comeback OT win over Columbus Tuesday, while the New York Islanders will look to snap a five-game skid and keep up with the race.
Yep, big game with big implications. Not to mention, we’re still awaiting word on Dylan Larkin’s status tonight. The captain has been sidelined since early March and currently is listed as questionable for tonight’s game. Goes without saying, of course, that Larkin’s return would be huge for a team that has been struggling of late. Would imagine we hear about Larkin’s status closer to gametime. Jake Walman is still out, so no changes anticipated on the blue line.
UPDATE 6:40 PM: All signs point to Larkin making his return tonight.
This is the third and final meeting between the Islanders and Red Wings for the regular season. Detroit won the first meeting in OT back in October, while the Islanders won the most-recent game in late February.
