Morning Skate: Flyers vs Wings

7:30p ET, Joe Louis Arena

Detroit, Michigan

TV: NBCSN, FDT+

Radio: 97.1 The Ticket

Flyers Blogs: Broad Street Hockey

We meet again, Philly…

The Wings are a good team. Tonight we’ll see Pavel Datsyuk return and skate on the third line centering Stephen Weiss and Darren Helm. I think the forward-core looks pretty promising right now. The defense is to remain the same, which might be an issue.. It hasn’t been spectacular, but if the offense can show up, the defense can certainly back it up. Philadelphia has a lot of dangerous players, so we could very well see the 4th line take on the 1st or 2nd line and try to create some mismatches for the top-six.

The Flyers are easy to hate. Why? Because Philly Cheesesteaks are overrated. Oh, I know.. How could I say this? Listen, it’s true. When it comes to truly elite sandwiches, Detroit has it down. The Coney Dog is a great sandwich. And don’t any of you buttheads tell me otherwise.

Tonight is a special night. On the eve of Thanksgiving, we all gather and give thanks to the hockey things. I don’t know about you all, but a win would definitely be pretty neat tonight.

Opponent Outlook

Player to Fear: Jakub Voracek. He’s been playing some great hockey this season.

X-Factor: Claude Giroux. Still one of the best centers in the league, in my opinion.

Familiar Faces: He isn’t playing, but Carlo Colaiacovo plays for Philly now.

Stuff to think about:

  • Jeff and I will be at this game. Jeff claims the Red Wings are undefeated when he attends the game.
  • Pavel Datsyuk has 13 points against the Flyers in 10 career games.
  • Stephen Weiss has 23 career points against the Flyers.
