If you’re reading this, and watched the previous game, I am glad to see you are still with us.
The Wings cruise into Philly on a seven game losing streak and a commanding lead in the tank-off with 17 points on the season and an incredible -45 goal differential. That is almost twice as bad as the next worst team (the Devils, and they aren’t even supposed to be down here with us).
In short, we are the worst team in the NHL and we’ve scored one goal in the past three games. The Flyers, on the other hand, are seeing themselves in a playoff position on Thanksgiving for the first time in 8 years.
The notable news out of Detroit is the injury to Jimmy has lead to the call-up of Calvin Pickard. Bernier was forced to play sick against Tronna, and did an admirable job for a healthy goalie let alone one who was five seconds from keeling over. Hopefully he is feeling rested and healthy and ready to rock, we need him more than ever.
Philly has been doing well but also leaning on their goaltending to keep them in games. They’ve been experimenting to figure out how to have production across all four lines, imagine that. The Flyers were also hot garbage on the powerplay last season, and have shown some improvement this season but still struggle. Wouldn’t scoring a shorty be fun? Looking at you and your hands Helm.
Basically, the Flyers aren’t an impossible team to beat but the Wings are their own worst enemy right now.
So what’s the plan? I’m guessing it’s to hit the reset button and dig up some pride. Luke Glendening and Dylan Larkin are playing the media role of Hank and Kronner. That’s not a fun place to be, but they’re the only ones who can dig themselves out of it.
LET’S GO RED WINGS!
