Quick Hits: Have The Red Wings Lost Their Mojo?

Red Wings News

Detroit Red Wings can improve from within but need an impact trade for a defenseman at some point | MLive.com
At this point, the Wings essentially have four NHL-ready defenseman in Grand Rapids. I am perfectly fine if we move one of these four, along with Kindl to free up cap space, and a 1st-round draft pick, if that would get us a top-4 defenseman in return. You have to give to get, and keeping all four of our prospects is not feasible. Plus, if we do keep them all, where do they fit in on this team going forward? Kronwall, Ericsson, Smith, and DeKeyser take up four spots alone, which means that one prospect will have to be moved at some point.

The Wings have signed former Phoenix Arizona Coyote’ Andy Miele. Like the Kevin Porter signing, this move was done to bolster Grand Rapids, and the Wings in times of dire need.

Why do the Red Wings repulse free agents? | Puck Daddy – Yahoo Sports
I am not as worried about the future as I am about winning now when we have arguably two of the best hockey players of all time on our roster. Five years from now we will (hopefully) be fine with players like Mantha, Nyquist, and Sproul. But, right now we need to win with Datsyuk and Zetterberg. Allowing them to end their careers playing for a mediocre hockey team is a disservice to not only them, but to hockey itself.
