Quick Hits: The Coming and Going Edition

Today in Hockey History: Aug. 16 – The Hockey Writers

The Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins completed a big six-player trade on Aug. 16, 1949. The Red Wings acquired Pete Babando, Jimmy Peters, Clare Martin and Lloyd Durham in exchange for Bill Quackenbush and Pete Horeck.

Babando went on to score a game-seven OT cup-winning goal for the Wings, so I’d say we won that trade.

Kotkaniemi came to play – NHL.com

When I see Kotkaniemi on the ice, I see a player that’s overflowing with confidence, with patience, and with skill.

Pretty much every other story is a take about a player who came to a decision not to play so this is a refreshing break.
