Detroit Red Wings 2019 draft crop shows promise: Steve Yzerman’s picks
“We think he has excellent hockey sense,” Yzerman said the night of the draft. “In our opinion he was one of the top defensemen in the draft. I know our fans don’t know much about him, but if people … Google him, watch him play a little bit. I think they will be pleasantly surprised.”

I’ve always been a big fan of the pick. No need to google that.

All kidding aside, I feel a lot better about the pick than I did on draft night. I’m still not convinced that he was the best pick at that spot considering the forward talent still on the board.

Around the NHL

Lewis, late civil rights icon, remembered by O’Ree, NHL
“Just standing there beside him, just to be there and to talk to him, made a big impact on me,” O’Ree said Saturday. “I’m so happy I was able to be there in his presence and give him a hug, shake hands with him and watch a hockey game.”

Lewis, the son of sharecroppers who was beaten, bloodied but unbowed in marching for racial equality in the 1960s before rising to become a leading voice in Congress for more than 30 years, died Friday at the age of 80 because of pancreatic cancer.

The world lost a good man yesterday.

Cute dog predicts the NHL playoffs: Play-In Edition – Hockey Wilderness
With all the anticipation, excitement and uncertainty leading up to actual, real hockey in the middle of summer, I decided to turn to two unassailable facts for something to count on:

1. Hockey fans love playoff predictions, and…

2. People love dogs.

Can’t argue with either.
