Red Wings Rumblings
A day late on this, but better late than never. Sebastian Cossa extended his brilliant streak Wednesday night in Winnipeg, propelling the Griffins to a 4-1 win over the Manitoba Moose.
Cossa stopped 32 of 33 shots, improving his record to 9-0-5 over his last 14 starts. Looking at his last 17 games, Cossa is 11-1-5 with a GAA of 2.05 and SV% of .925. Pretty damn good, but that’s just what Cossa does. He only continues to improve, no matter where he’s playing. Detroit soon?
Elmer Soderblom picked up the game-winning goal, and prospects Amadeus Lombardi, Marco Kasper and Antti Tuomisto all picked up helpers.
Meanwhile, I saw something on Twitter last night from the game at LCA, apparently some fans were quick to sell their Moritz Seider “Grow A Flow” Chia Pet:
I’m not sure if people are paying those prices, but if so, holy smokes. I love Moritz Seider, but come on.
The Hockey News has Justin Holl as one of the candidates. Probably doesn’t need much explanation. The dude hasn’t played much this season, and when he has, it’s been pretty underwhelming for what he’s being paid. The Wings could use the cap space with contract extensions coming up for Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider.
NHL News
Nikita Kucherov ain’t slowin’ down. He picked up four assists in last night’s win for Tampa, becoming the seventh NHL player to have at least three 80-assist seasons. Pretty good company for Kucherov: Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr and Coffey are some of the players who have achieved such a milestone.
