Quick Hits: The Old is New Again Edition

In Red Wings Land

Prospects Tournament Update:

Detroit 2 – St. Louis 5

Lucas Raymond scored both goals for the Wings, who lost Jonatan Berggren for the majority of the game.  St. Louis played a “prospects trying to physically prove themselves” style game.

Wings finish up tomorrow at 6 against Columbus.

It won’t take long to figure out but if you want to know off the bat, he’s number 7 in red.

If you want more fun, watch three Wings picks on this one:

Around the League

Islanders agree to terms with Zdeno Chara – Lighthouse Hockey

I do not know if penciling in 44-year-old Chara, or soon-to-be 39-year-old Andy Greene for that matter, next to Scott Mayfield for second-pair minutes seems like the best solution. The Islanders, already one of the oldest teams in the league, surely now have cemented themselves as the oldest team in the league. But Chara can still play, and he will certainly provide a ton of insight to someone like Noah Dobson.

Doesn’t mean a thing if you don’t also bring back Milbury.

Matthew Tkachuk on brother Brady’s contract talks: ‘They’re not too close’ – Sportsnet

“He might be pulling a classic Tkachuk right now. Dad held out, Matthew held out, and Brady looks like he’s on his way right now. So hopefully it can get figured out here. But it’s just a lot of fake stuff out there regarding this. They’re not too close. So hopefully it gets figured out, but who knows? My dad and I are definitely involved. Brady needs us to help him out with that stuff. He wasn’t as cutthroat as we were during it, but he’s starting to become more of a Tkachuk the later this goes.”

I’m rooting for not.
