Quick Hits: The Quick Hip Hit Edition

Red Wings News

Viewpoint 1: This is great news as long as it’s true. Kane has been a force since joining the team, and as long as his resurfaced hip holds up he should have a place somewhere in the top-6 helping dish the puck and showing these guys how to see the ice the way he does.

Viewpoint 2: Let him heal up as long as he needs, the team just hasn’t been the same since he joined. Chemistry is obviously off, and the way this team played to start the season just hasn’t endured his presence. Let him sit.

Take your pick, readers.

Bonus Wings News

Sunday’s game against the Lightning is now a 7:00pm start instead of a much more convenient 5:00pm late-matinee matchup. I want to hate this so much, but I can’t. Even I’ve been drinking the Honolulu Blue Kool-Aid. Go Lions.

Around The League

Detroit Red Wings: Coach Killers.

Seriously though, blaming Keefe for what should be a President’s Trophy contending team playing around the Wild Card bubble isn’t 100% accurate. There’s a lot of blame to go around between the newly-installed Treliving and the general Shanahan/MLSE meddling that was reported over this past summer. Goaltending is still shaky night-to-night, and I continue to be skeptical that a team with Morgan Rielly as its only good defender can really be considered a Stanley Cup contender. Sure, blame the coach – literally every fanbase in hockey will think that’s hilarious. But it’s hilarious because it still doesn’t fix the real issue, and I have zero confidence in MLSE to recognize that.
