Red Wings Rumblings
Nothing earth-shattering here. Khan doesn’t think Perron will be moved, and if they are to ship Berggren off, he believes it would be part of a bigger deal.
Two Wings the Oilers should Trade For: The Hockey News
Caleb Kerney mentions David Perron and Daniel Sprong as two potential targets. If you ask me, it makes little sense to move both players while the Wings are in the playoff picture.
Meanwhile, Kevin Weekes suggests that Calgary could be open for business on a couple of its defensemen, both of which make sense for Detroit:
If Steve Yzerman wants to make any moves before the deadline, we’ll never know until it happens. Nothing leaves the vault. But for speculation’s sake, it would be big or go home. Adding a younger, but veteran D should be a priority… But the argument there is why move assets for a blueliner when you have several in Grand Rapids who could fill the need. Wouldn’t expect moving James Reimer, since Ville Husso is now sidelined with a lower-body injury.
Detroit isn’t in a “win now” mode just yet. So, making a move for the sake of making a move doesn’t fit the bill. Wouldn’t be upset if Yzerman decided to keep what he has and see if a wild card berth emerges. If they miss out, reassess and reload in the offseason.
