Quick Hits: The Upbeat Bold Zadina Edition

In Detroit Land

Detroit Red Wings’ Filip Zadina aims to make team next season – Freep
Zadina, who has been sidelined from development camp due to a sore hamstring talks about his learning path and progression.  There’s also a real nice dig in there about “the process” of learning in the AHL:

“It’s tough to change leagues,” he said. “When I was in the NHL, in my opinion, it was a little bit easier to play with those players because they know how to pass the puck and those things. It was kind of easier.

“When I was back, it’s AHL, it’s way different league.”

Also, with development camp wrapping up, here are a couple links if you missed them:

Red Wings’ DeKeyser earns Western Michigan degree – Redwings.NHL.com
Aside from improving his game last season and dealing with being a new father, DeKeyser was also working to finish his bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan. Good quotes from a proud family here for a guy who works very hard.

Maple Leafs, Senators working on Zaitsev trade; Ceci could be invloved – Sportsnet.ca
The Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly working on a trade to send defenceman Nikita Zaitsev to the Ottawa Senators.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman is reporting he’s hearing a trade might not happen for a few days, while Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston says there is a belief restricted free agent blueliner Cody Ceci could be headed back to the Maple Leafs.

I think this tweet pretty much sums up how Leafs fans feel about trading Zaitsev, but then possibly getting back Ceci:

There is the possibility of Toronto flipping Ceci to another team.

Speaking of trades:

This trade seems pretty not good for the Coyotes. I wonder how the hot dogs are in Arizona.
