Red Wings Reveal Stadium Series Jersey

Well it’s finally here. The Red Wings have officially revealed their jersey for the 2016 Stadium Series game against the Colorado Avalanche at Coors Field.

Quite frankly… I don’t think it’s that bad. I kind of like it. It’s not the normal classic sweater we’re used to when it comes to the Red Wings, but different isn’t always awful. And hey, it’s better than the Avs jersey. It’s always WAY better than the design leak awhile back.

I like the new D. I could definitely do without the white pageant slash. The big numbers aren’t really my thing either, but that seems to be the trend with the Stadium Series jerseys these days. It’ll be a little bit easier for the broadcasters and fans sitting way far away in the outfield at a baseball park to identify the players. I do wonder if they’re going to wear white pants and white gloves with these. We’ll have to wait and see on that one. UPDATE: They will be wearing white gloves and there will be a large winged wheel logo on the pants.

We haven’t seen the back of the jerseys yet, but according to the Wings site the names will still be arched:

The nameplate lettering is arched, as a way of connecting to the design of the team’s current nameplate lettering.

UPDATE: Here’s a picture from the Red Wings snapchat account:

Here’s Niklas Kronwall and Henrik Zetterberg wearing their new threads.

So what are your thoughts on the new sweater?

Do you like the Red Wings Stadium Series jersey?

Yes. I’ve already ordered mine. 263
No. It’s the Dan Cleary of jerseys. 302
Meh. It could be worse. 511
