The Grand Rapids Griffins are in Charlotte tonight playing the Checkers (Hurricanes affiliate). Some headlines from the game include goaltender Jake Paterson making his first career start in the AHL. Quick observation shows that he’s made some big saves so far to keep the Checkers scoreless. Most Wings fans know that both players have had a rough start to their pro careers, but have come out on fire this season. Frk is second on the team for goals scored with 14 (22 points total), while Mantha is third with 11 (25 points total). Both prospects have been some of the more impressive forwards for the Griffins this year, and have helped them bounce back from an extremely dismal start to the 2015-2016 regular season.
