UPDATE: Forward Evgeny Svechnikov has been assigned to the #RedWings taxi squad.

There is a four day gap in between Detroit games, but Grand Rapids doesn’t play until March 11, so it looks like Rasmussen will go back to GR for now, and Larkin will likely be ready to go for Detroit’s next game.
Svechnikov going to the taxi squad instead of Grand Rapids tells me it’s likely he’ll be in the lineup on Tuesday for Detroit’s next game.

Remember yesterday when I said that the Department of Player Safety is abdicating its responsibility. It leads to things like this. This is a garbage hit by a garbage player. He’s been suspended over and over and continues to make garbage hits.
Bruce Cassidy said Brandon Carlo was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

Ward fired as coach of Flames, replaced by Darryl Sutter
Sutter coached the Flames for three seasons from 2002-06 and was their general manager from 2003-10. He had been an adviser to the Anaheim Ducks coaching staff since July 2019, and last coached in the NHL for the Los Angeles Kings in 2016-17, his last of six seasons with them. The Kings won the Stanley Cup in 2012 and 2014.
It’s refreshing to see a new face get a chance to coach an NHL team.
