Quick Hits: The Prospect Postseason Edition

Red Wings Rumblings

It’s a somber day here in Red Wings land, after Detroit got their butts whooped by Carolina last night 4-0. I’d give you some analysis/recap of this game, but I think the score tells the story there. Detroit’s playoff chances dwindle with every day that passes, and it looks like they will miss out on postseason hockey yet again, barring a miraculous turnaround.

Meanwhile, a bunch of Detroit’s prospects are getting jumping into postseason hockey. Yesterday, Shai Buium and the University of Denver advanced to the quarterfinal with a 2-1 win over UMASS. Denver will play Cornell tomorrow at 4PM ET.

Michigan State University, which includes Trey Augustine, Red Savage play today against Western Michigan University. That is slated for a 5PM puck drop. Kienan Draper and the University of Michigan play North Dakota at 8:30PM.

NCAA D1 Men’s Championship Bracket

The CHL playoffs are underway as well. A number of Wings prospects are suiting up, including Nate Danielson with the Portland Winterhawks. A lot to track, but we’ll do our best!

NHL dot com Profile of Lukas Fischer

Ilitch pushes for varsity status for U of M Women’s Hockey

The support on social media is overwhelming. It would be nice to see the Ilitches put their money where their mouth is to make this happen. There’s no reason that Michigan, a great hockey state, shouldn’t have varsity-level NCAA women’s hockey.
